What Is Motorization?

Traditionally, adjustment of the window coverings in your household has required some sort of hands-on manipulation. Many coverings feature a pull cord attached to an internal adjusting mechanism. In this type of system, manipulation of the cord gives you the ability to raise or lower blinds or shades or tilt the angle of the slats found in blinds. Some window coverings have a cordless mechanism that lets you directly adjust their position with your hand.

A motorized system differs from both of these approaches. To operate this type of system, you press the buttons on a wired control panel or a wireless remote control. Each button on a panel or remote control helps you position a shade or blind in a specific way (e.g., lowering, raising, or tilting).

There are several reasons to choose a motorized window covering system over a hand-operated system. First, a motorized system makes it easier to adjust the position of your blinds and shades. The next generation motor line offers considerable value to both manufacturers and consumers by enabling some of the most significant use cases around comfort & convenience, privacy, and energy efficiency found in the window coverings category today.

Motorized shades continue to grow in popularity and demand with more and more consumers embracing the new age of smart home technology. The expansion of the Automate platform provides a convenient, reliable approach to control and automate
